I've always been hyper-fixated on my grades, obsessing with the 0.05 drops in my cumulative class grade. I struggled during my sophomore and junior high school years due to frequent flare-ups. It was always a mystery to my classmates and me when I returned to school; sometimes, I even felt like a stranger in my classes. I felt exhausted and hardly had any motivation to study. I longed to return to times when I had the energy to study for hours. Seeing a significant drop in my grades harmed my mental health and worsened my inflammation. I fell into a vicious cycle of falling sick and unhappy with my grades.
I want to emphasize that I don't treat Crohn's Disease as an excuse but as a context for my performance at school. Most importantly, I cherish the valuable study habits I gained and continue to achieve; I'd like to share these tips with the rest of you. I didn't include information about my grade dips for sympathy but rather to establish a level of transparency. If you're dealing with Crohn's, some days will be worse than others. I hope that by sharing information about my school life and general tips, you can learn from my experiences.
